Programming for Returning Women Students

Weekly Socials are BACK! Brown Bag Lunches will be happening Mondays from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, and Evening Tea Thursdays will take place from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. In the WRC lounge. PSU Diversity Awards Celebration

Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

The Portland State University Diversity Awards recognize one faculty member, one staff member, one undergraduate student, and one graduate student of the University who exemplify and honor the President’s Diversity Initiative, which focuses on the following:

  • Enhancing the institutional environment, curriculum, and scholarship;
  • Increasing numbers of students from under-represented groups;
  • Increasing numbers of persons from under-represented groups in faculty, staff, and administration; and
  • Strengthening connections with diverse communities in the region.

McNair Scholars Program accepting applications

The Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at Portland State University is accepting applications for the 2008-09 program year. The Ronald E. McNair Program works with motivated and talented undergraduates who want to pursue PhDs. Through academic seminars and a summer research internship, the program introduces PSU juniors and seniors, who are first-generation and low-income, and/or members of under-represented groups, to academic research and to effective strategies for getting into and graduating from PhD programs. Applications are due on June 13, 2008 for the cohort starting Winter term 2009. Additional information and program applications are available online at http://www.mcnair-program.pdx.edu.

The Sexual & Gender Minority Services Program at Bradley-Angle House will begin a new all-genders Queer Domestic Violence Support Group on April 1st, 2008. Support Group for Survivors of Trauma

The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is offering a Trauma Recovery and Empowerment (TREM) Group: 

  • 24-week support group for survivors of trauma such as childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault
  • A safe place to explore common issues important to trauma survivors and be supported by others who have gone through similar experiences.
  • FREE and confidential
  • The group will use a combination of processing, activities and psycho-educational discussions to process issues of trauma.
  • Mondays 6:30-8:30PM, start date TBA

Sexual Assault Support Group

The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is running a 12-week support group for adult survivors of sexual assault.  This support groups offer a safe space to explore common issues that are important to trauma survivors. The group is FREE and confidential.   

  • When: Wednesdays
  • Where: SARC
  • Time: 6:30-8:30
  • Start Date TBA
