What can I do? |
What is it like? |
How do I get involved? |
Use the lounge |
The Women’s Resource Center has a great lounge available for students to study, eat, and meet. We have a fridge, microwave, clothing exchange cabinet, and a computer available for student use. |
Montgomery Basement, right across the blocks from SMSU. Hours vary by term, generally 9-5 Monday-Thursday and variable on Fridays. |
Come to Stitch-n-Bitch |
Come socialize with other women on campus. Learn to knit or crochet, bring your own project or start one with our materials |
The program kicks off fall term; keep an eye on our Events page for details. |
| Write for the She Sheet |
The She Sheet is the feminist voice for Portland State University’s students. A blog and internet magazine portal, the She Sheet gives voices to women and feminists at Portland State and around the world. |
Contact Kristin Bell, She Sheet Editor, at kristinb@pdx.edu |
Pick up a volunteer office shift |
Work one or two four hour shifts per week supporting our mission. Meet others, build community, gain skills. |
If you are able to commit for a whole quarter, schedule an interview with Bridge and plan to attend training the first Friday of the quarter. 503-725-5672 |
Become a day-of volunteer |
Get on our contact list, and get updates when we need a crew to make our fabulous events get off the ground! |
Meet with Bridge and tell us what you like to do. |
Mentor women coming back to school |
The Returning Women’s Program offers one on one mentoring for our students, and we need committed volunteers to help others succeed in school. |
Apply and interview with Jane Sproul, and be able to make at least a one quarter commitment. |
Plan our fabulous events |
It is student volunteers that make the Vagina Monologues, Portland International Women’s Day, Take Back the Night, and our other events possible. Use and develop those people and organizing skills and be on a committee. |
Complete an application and meet with Bridge or Aimee to be considered for planning committees. |
Be a Feminist Leader |
Students who work with us in the office, on committees, and take our classes are often recruited for leadership roles such as
advisory board, chairing committees, and research projects. |
Get involved, show us what a rock star you are, and we will put you to work on great projects! |
